Stage Lights 5, originally uploaded by JdeB.

Production value is skyrocketing at BrookwoodKiDs!! I am getting so pumped at what is going on right now in both our Sunday Experiences and for our giant Adventure Week program that we are pulling off in exactly 40 days… A couple things you might be interested in:

  • In a few weeks 5th graders will be running a light system with two 19″ touch screens
  • Our environments are going to change drastically in a few weeks… Pics coming soon hopefully…
  • Adventure Week Production meeting on Stage design and layout. 2 words Crazy Sick!

I would say more but it would be just more of the awesome, crazy incredible rhetoric that you have have already participated. Let’s just leave it at wow!

Puddle Jumper

jumping over puddles, originally uploaded by anna.klevan.

If you didn’t know GVegas as we call it and the East Coast region have been pounded with rain lately and it probably won’t end until this week. But I’m walking outside this afternoon and I see two kids having a ball running through the rain. I can’t help but think to myself “When was the last time I bounded through a puddle”

Tons of memories flooded my brain, but one in particular. It was a beautiful summer day and we had our kiddie pool out. My parents were at the fence talking to our neighbors and I was riding my bike. I think I’m 7 at this time. If you know me you would know that it’s not a casual bike ride but instead a race to win supreme chancellor of North America or whatever title I had made up at that time. I remember the breeze and I remember doing the very southern style “Hey Mom & Dad watch this” and at that moment when I had my stage I turn around and plunge into the pool. Totally embarassing but totally full of emotion and adventure.

I wonder if we teach our kids the “lets have fun and experience an abundant life in Christ” or the “don’t jump in that puddle mentality”.

Do we live our lives in a way that shows kids that life with God is an adventure?

Do we teach the awesomeness of God and the abundant, adventurous, risky life?

Do we want our kids to experience the fullness of God or show them that works is how you go places?

So I’m challenging you to be a puddle jumper today. Take your kids outside and romp in the rain and experience the fun and teach them to live life with God as the forefront.

Goals

Goal, originally uploaded by aremac.

Well I wanted to tell you about a couple of goals that God put into my heart this week at Orange:

  • To show people more and more how technology can enhance the way that they can minister to kids
  • To write an article for a magazine
  • To write a book (even though books might be dying, according to Seth)

I really think God is showing me that I really can impact people through writing. Tough to think about considering the fact that I didn’t have an English class for most of my life and grammar is just well, it’s just too hard for me to do really well. But God is giving me some bigger vision and reinforcing the fact that I can help people in ministry around the country.

How do you connect?

The Couch, originally uploaded by Cienega Soon.

After talking with Human3rror or John Saddington, at the Blogger’s Lounge at the Orange Conference, I’ve realized that I haven’t put as much thought into how I connect with people as I should. I love to think that I am pretty good at making connections and then pointing them a direction that will give them the help that they need. But I’ve realized that we put up a ton of barriers for them to connect with us. I’ll give you some examples:

  • What do you have on your blog that will make 1st timers want to say?
  • What slows your blog down enough that people can’t wait long enough to see your “life changing” content?
  • What meaningful resources do you provide for people that they want to jump over the barriers?

In B School we talked a ton about Barriers to Entry. As a church, as a ministry, as a blogger, there are tons of barriers to entry are you aware of them?

And I’ll leave you with this thought: If you had a picture of your connection style is it a couch or a chair? Do you invite people to sit with you and connect and chill or do you make it seem as though you are on an island…

O so nervous

It’s crazy to be young and in the spot that I’m in. I thought it was crazy before to be working at the church that I get to work with… But this is crazier. I am with all these bloggers and they are crazy awesome. I’m just trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible and then throw out a joke

hehehe… yeh…. (not as funny as I thought) heh, heh, heh, (I give up…) O you know that process :)

It’s been really awesome though. Thanks for everything Bloggers!

Getting Ready for the next session at Orange

It’s been awesome so far. I plan on doing a little recap a bit later on in the day. Trying to network a little more today. Absolutely love meeting the people here and hearing their stories of ministry. It’s been awesome. Anyway today Perry Noble and Andy Stanley are up today. So be prepared to be beaten with some knowledge… Peace and if you’re at Orange find me and say hey. Also I hear there’s a rumor that Loswhit is coming today.
