Thursday of Adventure Week

I am incredibly overwhelmed by the incredible work that God has been doing this week.

Today we present the gospel to our upper elementary children. I can only think of one thing this morning as I am praying to God. Two groups of people ran towards Jesus. People that had either a physical problem or a spiritual problem and children. And funny enough, the disciples at separate times tried to stop members of both groups. I am asking today that nothing would allow us today from stopping people to run to Jesus.

Thank you so much for your prayers. I am so thankful.

Adventure Week Notes

I can’t believe that its here but also I can’t believe that we are done with day 2.

I would give alot more information besides the awesome incredible worship and super fun kids. But honestly there is no way I could put it all into a blog entry especially with the schedule for this week.

By the way I am getting and iPhone in 1-3 weeks.

Here it is

Here is the video that I promised you of every boy’s dreams tied in with our theme for Adventure Week

Rock Quarry Blast

To add to my overall giddiness of this past few days and the giddiness of the days to come. I am extremely pumped to tell you that today I witnessed one of the coolest things that I could imagine.

I witnessed a real live blast at a rock quarry! Imagine seeing many of your childhood toys: dump truck, bulldozers, (pretend) explosives, and my personal favorite rocks. All in one place ran by grownups. It’s a magical place that only gets better as you stay there longer.

We witnessed a blast that was a much more simple formula than I would have thought for high-end explosives.

There will be a video but let me just tell you, few things make you feel more like a giddy boy than 40,000 tons of rock exploding a few thousand feet in front of you.

If you didn’t notice I was challenged to use giddy three times in a blog post. All times it was true.

Adventure Week is so close

This is by far going to be the most incredible production I have ever imagined. I can’t believe it’s almost here. The days are closing and if you are around the Simpsonville, SC area next week you need to check it out. It is going to be absolutely incredible. We’ve maxed out and are knee deep in preparation for the event. I am so incredibly excited I am about to burst.

You do not want to miss it!

Update

There is just so much going on right now that I have put the blog on the backburner. I am so incredibly sorry as I have seen a dropoff in my readership. You will see a significant growth in post count as soon as July 25th passes us by.

I am incredibly excited about the opportunity that we have with our Adventure Week Program. I am so excited to see the kids and how their lives will be impacted. I thought this morning about how thankful I am to be apart of the work that is going on at Brookwood. I am a part of an incredible team that cares about children and volunteers in a way that I could only imagine.

Things are going from stressful to super stressful now. So many life things happening on top of the tasks that must be accomplished for the coming week. I am asking for alot of prayer for Adventure Week. Pray that kids would begin their journey in Christ and that they would get connected.

Now for some quick things on my mind:

  • I am missing my wife alot, She is investing in the lives of teens this week in Florida at camp and I am lonely.
  • I am pondering the “I can’t speak ” phrase. You can’t say it in the language that you can’t speak because then people will know that you only bothered to know that one phrase. But if you don’t learn that phrase, those people can’t understand you??? (weird that I thought of that)
  • Thinking of classic kids behaviors. “I’m not whining (really whiny voice)” Their indescribable greetings that bring so much joy to your heart and any time that they eat.
  • loving this post
  • thankful to Christ and looking to the future as a person and in ministry. (ever wonder where you are at in life when you’re 50? I did this week).

Let me know some classic kids behavior that drive you nuts or make you smile

Adventure week is coming

I have been waiting for this since I have been hired at Brookwood and it is very close at hand. We have 2 weeks left to prepare for the biggest production effort of the year.

I am praying that everything comes together as planned and that the kids really have an experience with Christ unlike anything else that they have ever experienced. Check out the website we designed for Adventure week.

Tell me what you think and I will be sure to post pictures for everyone to see what is going on during the week.

Think your kids will just turn out ok?

IBS

I went to the gastro doc the other day for my stomach problem that has been going on for about the last 9 months.

He told me that I had IBS. So I’m pretty psyched. Nothing like a diagnosis to ease your mind. So now it looks like alot of pills will be in my future. Just thought I would let you know that everything is minor and no major problems.

out.
