I love staff meetings!

Just got done with our weekly children’s ministry staff meeting. I love going and hearing everything that is going on that is not necessarily in my realm of ministry. From having a baby dedication in June to the Taylor’s Helping Hands ministry. It is always incredible to hear encouraging words and vision casting from all different areas of the ministry.

Tell me about your staff meetings. What do you do that might be different from what everyone else does during their staff meeting? How do you build community with your staffers?

Thank you troops!

Thanks for everything that you’ve done. I am appreciative of the sacrifices you’ve made. Thank you for the freedom that I have to worship freely and all of the other freedoms that I have thank you so much.

I love God’s Word!

So today I’m reading and David is still hiding out. Earlier God had told David that He would give the enemy over into David’s hands. Saul heard where David was hiding out. They were looking for David and Saul needed to “relive himself” (MSG).

  1.  that is hilarious.
  2.  he goes to relieve himself in the same cave that David is hiding in.
  3. David goes to kill him and has a AHA moment.
He instead cuts off a piece of his robe and brings it back to his men and said God followed through on his promise but I can’t kill God’s anointed. God followed through in a very interesting way but it wasn’t the victory that David initially wanted.
He felt humbled by God’s follow through and as a result put even more faith in God to go up to Saul and humble himself and give up. Give up to the man that was looking all over the country trying to kill him. The man who got super ticked at his son for helping his best friend escape certain death. I am envious of the change in heart that David has at this moment and in the heat of the battle in what could be the greatest relief of his life David listens.
O God help me to listen to you in the midst of the storm and in the victory. I am so thankful for your faithfulness and guidance continue to lead me in this process called life.

Trip to the Doc

I can’t say that I like Doctors. In fact I can’t say that at all ever. I have only had one doctor that I loved and she was my pediatrician til I was like 11. I just have formed this opinion of doctors over the years based on my experiences with them. I have to go today to the doctor. Honestly, I should have went months ago but with the whole transition with jobs think I thought that it was a smarter move to put it off.

I have had some kind of crazy stomach issue for the past 7 months and hopefully I will find some sort of resolution today. Pray that they know what is going on cuz no one else has yet.

New doctor, weird health problem, and new insurance = wonderfully stress free day!

My first project… I’m so proud

Well this is a video bumper that I did for a review game that we play on Sunday mornings with our elementary large group. It is very basic but I thought it turned out pretty cool. Again this is my first day in Final Cut Pro so let me know what you think.

Deep thoughts

I was at the service last night at “Varsity”, the student ministry at Brookwood. It was awesome and incredible. Mike did a great job delivering a great message that was full of practical biblical advice to improve your family life and your life with other people. I learned and grew last night.

Last night though I found myself thinking about how I just get bitter about certain things. I wish that I had more of a loving heart sometimes but last night I was getting upset by all of the talking by the kids. I guess a part of me wants to hear the speaker but honestly another part of me just wants the kids to get in line with my version of behavior.

I just felt God speak to me about how we sacrifice the love we should have for other people with rules and conduct. I guess that is how Jesus felt about the Pharisees. God change my heart and give me more and more love for other people.

man the time it takes to edit video stuff…

I am so tired and have the largest headache that a person on earth has ever experienced. I am so thankful for our video people here at Brookwood. I love making things really cool but don’t have the experience or knowledge to actually put my dreams and ideas onto a screen yet. We are in the middle of a review week this week and with alot of extra time and effort produced some really cool stuff that I think the kids will love!

It’s not revolutionary or groundbreaking but it is time that I got to put into production on Sunday to enhance what we put in front of kid’s faces. What if we put that time and effort into everything that we presented to people. I know that it seems impossible but what if we did everything that we could to make the stuff that we did better. What if instead of being satisfied we took the hard road and went the extra mile. I am so pumped right now about the opportunities before me and the skills I am learning that I can hardly contain it. I can’t wait to see what all I can do to make this some of the greatest stuff kids have ever experienced… not just in church, but in all aspects of their life.

MTV, Nickolodeon you better keep your stuff up to date or we are gonna pass you!!! We want kids to know and experience God!!! We are pulling out the stops and doing what it takes to give them that opportunity!!

God will remind you of past victories

Have you ever been at a place where you are fearful? Where you feel like their is no escaping the circumstances that you are in. Has there been a time in your life where trouble seems to be everywhere and you can’t get past any of it?

I love the time that I am able to spend in God’s word everyday. Yesterday as I was reading, David was running for his life. Saul was really angry and wanted to kill David. The funny thing is that David had done nothing to be killed except honor Saul and win many victories for the people of God.

David not knowing where to go turns to Ahimelech a friend that has prayed for David on numerous occasions as we found out later. He needs a weapon and some guidance. Ahimelech prays for God’s guidance in David’s life which number one is awesome to have someone do. But secondly, an amazing thing happens.

David tells him of his need of a sword. Ahimelech lets him know that he has one. It was the sword of Goliath the Philistine! Talk about some encouragement from God. David is running for his life and is scared to death and God reminds him of that miracle that happened that day! The miracle that David not only experienced, but the one whom God had chosen to work through to accomplish it.

There have been lots of times like this in my life where God has encouraged me in this area. Through a random check when bills come around. Or money I found in a shoe. Or the time where I found the cd of the first sermon I ever preached when I was going through a tough time in my life and the message was exactly what I needed to hear. God is always involved in our life and wants us to be encouraged to do the work that is set before us. I am so thankful for God’ consistent work in my life. Praise God for his wondrous ways!

It’s Adventure Week Prep Time

Well Adventure Week (VBS) for those of you that don’t know, is almost here. I can’t wait to see how much fun the kids have doing all of the stuff that we have planned for them. We are doing a science lab theme. Which is like heaven on earth for a boy because you get to think of ways to make things melt, catch on fire, spew, or explode!!! Needless to say we plan to do all of these things.

Diet Coke and Mentos that’s all I’m gonna say!

I can’t wait til Adventure Week gets here. It is going to be so much fun you aren’t gonna want to miss it.

Finally did some editing

I had an extremely busy day editing video and making an intro for our next series at Brookwood. I think that the kids will love it! I am enjoying making things that make everything so much more seamless for the tech people but at the same time am just as excited to see them grow in their abilities. I love my job and only got a 2 minute video done today which isn’t bad for my first official Final Cut Pro 2 day. I am so excited!

Let me know about some projects that you have been a part of in your church that you were especially excited about or really thrilled to be a part or.
