So I’m going to take a minute and just share some of my thoughts as I’m sitting here in the opening session of OC16.
I’ve been to Orange 7 or 8 times. God birthed something in me the first Orange Conference that I attended. I was 21. I was doing production, tech, large group teaching for Elementary at my church. But God was birthing a fire to really help families.
Fast Forward to today. I’m the Family Pastor at my same church. I’ve worked in Elementary, Middle School, High School and now oversee birth-HS.
I’ve seen so many great things. But it’s like a whole new journey today. To begin putting into practice the things that got birthed all these years ago.
Today I’m 30. I’m the Family Pastor at my church seeking to really make a difference in the lives of families. I’m a Foster Parent asking God what part he wants me to play in helping kids who don’t have “families” or at least not the picture we all think of when we think of our family.
Orange has brought me an opportunity for me to hear God’s voice as he cries out for families, amazing relationships with innovative leaders, and a few crucial people who have put my life on a trajectory that I would have never dreamed of.
So I’m thankful for where I am.
I’m also estatic for what God has to say this week. I always walk away more passionate about the families in my church and community than ever before.
OC16. I’m ready. Thanks for coming.
